WHO ARE WE?

Today, more than ever before, Texas Christian is poised to become a power in TAPPS athletics. And success has carried beyond the playing fields, as Texas Christian athletes serve as exemplars of high moral character, putting God first in all that they do, and continue to excel in the high academic standards expected of all of our students. Our athletes are pushed for excellence in all that they do and they are meeting the challenge.

To ensure that they can continue to excel, we must also meet a challenge. Successful programs are built on more than talented players and coaches - our newly formed Booster Club will account for the enhancement of our athletic dollars, but we still have a long way to go.

Your participation in the Texas Christian Booster Club will be essential for the success of our students on and off the field. The Booster Club membership is open for all families from K-3 through 12th grade. Please complete the membership form. Note the levels, benefits and the incentives for the first four families to join (donated by a parent).

A Message From The Booster Club Vice President

The 2004-2005 school year is upon us, as well as another year of high school athletics.

As a supporter of Texas Christian student athletes, the Texas Christian Booster Club encourages you to become a supporter.  Our purpose is to provide emotional, physical and financial support to the athletic department.  It's our way of investing in our children and their future.

We raise funds to supplement the athletic department's budget.  We do this through various fund-raisers and activities, memberships and ticket and merchandise sales.  Over the years, we've helped upgrade facilities and purchased equipment for various sports to name a few.  Thousands of dollars have been raised and used to help all sports.

Please thoughtfully consider becoming a supporter in the Texas Christian Booster Club.  Together, we can make a difference!

Ron Oswalt

Vice President

The Texas Christian Tigers knew they would have their hands full in the Houston 6-Man Bowl sponsored by Metrocoreplex and HGC Pest Control versus the Knights of Hill Country Christian of Austin. The Knights entered the game with a 7-2 record with both of their losses coming to the hands of Central Texas. The Tigers made several first quarter miscues and fell behind 28-0 after one quarter and fell 48-8 in the season finale.

The Tigers took possession first but Christopher Nichols lofted a pass and the Knights intercepted it and returned 35 yards for an early 7-0 Austin lead.

The Tigers had problems moving the ball versus a stingy Knights defense, but Aubrey Oswalt of Texas Christian would intercept a Collin Bland pass and return it 10 yards to give the Tigers the ball back, but the offense would sputter once again as the Tigers would only have 37 yards of offense in the opening stanza.

Scores by Josh Menjivar, Collin Bland, and David Rakes would give the Knights from Austin a 28-0 lead they would never relinquish. The Tigers would finally get on the board with 1:28 left until halftime as Joseph Arrington sacked Collin Bland in the end zone for a safety. The Tigers trailed 28-2 at halftime.

The Tigers would finally get on the board again and close the gap as backup Quarterback Aubrey Oswalt passed to Neil Crumpton for a 30-yard touchdown. The PAT was no good but the Tigers closed the gap to 28-8 with 6:57 left in the game. Oswalt finished the game with 6 for 6 passing for 85 yards to lead the Tigers passing game.

The Knights would widen the gap with a Bland to Josh Menjivar 46-yard pass with 6:48 left in the fourth quarter to give the Knights a 34-8 lead. Christopher Nichols would reenter the game and would be picked off by Eric Martin and he returned the interception 44 yards for a 41-8 lead. The Knights would close scoring with a Matt Fleming 3-yard plunge for a 48-8 win.

Texas Christian Head Coach Travis Manning said post game, "We didn't execute well but the Knights from Austin are a very good football team. Our team had ups and downs this season but overall I am very pleased with their performances."

The Knights rolled up 300 yards of total offense to 221 for the Tigers from Texas Christian. The Knights of Austin finished their season with an 8-2 record, with the loss the junior high Tigers of Texas Christian finished their season with a 6-5 mark.

MVP awards for the bowl game were awarded to Josh Menjivar of Austin and Neal Crumpton of Texas Christian.

In this area I might put any late-breaking news, such as last night's score or any injuries or trade rumors.

Trivia Question

To encourage visitors to check back often, in this area I'll put a different trivia question each week or even each day. Here's an example of a trivia question:
